This Wednesday, September 2nd, sees the launch night of year 2 of our Sedgemoor Camera Club. I hope you have all been enjoying going out and using your camera. Those of you who came out to some of the summer events had a good, sociable time.
We started with the Butterflies (oh how hot and humid it was) and then the Birds of Prey. It rained, but that didn’t stop Ian getting on his knees for the shot. Annie found some wonderful butterflies. We liked the hair drier. Word of warning, steer clear of the egg mayonnaise salad.
We then went to Cannington Walled Garden. Amazing parking, especially if you had an electric car. Stunning , macro shot were available. Plenty of insects on the flowers.
We had Tropiquaria to our selves after six. Allowed in the cages and to handle the animals (I still haven’t seen the shot of me holding the Boa Constricter Helen) Lance took an amazing shot of a lizard / chameleon, over 70 000 views on Flickr (it is in the club’s Flickr Group)
We spent a few enjoyable hours one Thursday evening up at Weston Super Mare at the Biker’s Night. Rows and rows of shiny bikes and trikes, some very imaginative modifications. I managed another 10 ‘Portraits Of Strangers’ one of whom said “ Do you remember me Mr Shaw ? Actually I half did. Dave tried some pans of the bikes as they departed. Mo found a camera made from nuts and bolts.
Tarr Steps was very busy, and the pub was very expensive, well it was for Tim as he and his passenger went off to Withypool in search of a cheaper lunch. Mike Basham, wife and I waited at The Valley Of The Rock for sunset. Sorry to have missed Mike Newman, we were there somewhere on the path.
The last visit is to Hestercombe Gardens, plenty of opportunity to test your photographic skills and for me to try out my new lens.
We hope to see you all on Wednesday at the usual time and venue, clutching your £22.50 (annual membership fee + entry), ready to enjoy a second year of fun with your camera. Can you bring in any summer shots you have taken for a critique early on and also can you prepare (if you haven’t already done so) two or three portraits that you took back on May 27th for an in-house discussion. You will also have the opportunity of ‘seeing’ and hearing me christen the new sound system and see the wonders of our new laptop. Nor sure whether the new projector will be up and running but we are taking lots of shots for the industrial calendar so it is all in hand.
