Not the most SPECTACULAR of club evenings, but probably one of the most useful in terms of hearing what YOU the members want from the club. Thank you.
The evening started with the members discussing what they would like for next week’s ‘MEMBERS NIGHT’. After considering many of your suggestions, it was agreed that it would be ‘The basics of your camera and photography’ – with a guided practical hopefully outside. Can please bring in the instruction manual for your camera, as it might help.
Mo delighted us with his new, bigger, and better Mo’s Table. The longer table meant that you had more room for each item, so giving more angles, which went down really well.
During that time there was plenty of chatting, and members helping each other to solve problems over a cuppa. And yes, Mo’s mug appeared again!
(THE MUG IS THE ONE ON THE LEFT)
The evening ended with a discussion about how you felt a club night should be run, in order to cover your needs, and how to accommodate this including out of club hours events. It’s was good how many of you contributed with lots of good ideas and the committee will look into them all and let you know what we intend soon. Here are a few that were mentioned:
Colin Gitsham agreed to liaise with the local Speedway team. A group booking of over 10 members is needed but then the cost is £15 per person, and a £1 car parking fee. For your money you get to take photos in areas like the pits, PLUS they lay on a light buffet. GREAT VALUE! Dates available are June 3rd & June 24th. So anyone that’s interested, please contact either myself, Tim, or Colin Gitsham at the club.
Ken introduced the possibility of members organising small group outings particular over the summer break but using the club as the tool to promote it.
Angela Partridge highlighted the opportunity to photograph lavender at Somerset Lavender and Blackdown Lavender.
Roger Ballantine mentioned trips to something I would call wetlands, and Slimbridge.
Also a possible coach trip went down VERY WELL.
