EXTERNAL Competition Rules

For ‘external’ competitions an outside judge is brought in to score the images. Entries are sent to the judge after submission so that they can score at their leisure. Then on the night, the judge will go through the images giving out the scores and identifying the winners. Certificates are given out at the end of the evening to the winners. Entries for ‘external’ can be digital and/or print.

  • COMPETITIONS ARE OPEN TO ANY PAID-UP MEMBER OF THE SEDGEMOOR CAMERA CLUB.
  • IMAGES MUST NOT BE MORE THAN 2 YEARS OLD AND BE ALL YOUR OWN WORK, THIRD PARTY CONTENT IS NOT ALLOWED (ALL OVERLAYS AND TEXTURES MUST BE YOUR OWN WORK)
  • NEW ENTRIES ONLY (IMAGES THAT HAVE BEEN ENTERED BEFORE CANNOT BE RE-ENTERED)
  • FOR EACH COMPETITION THERE IS A NOMINATED THEME (SEE CLUB PROGRAMME) AND FOR WHICH YOUR IMAGES SHOULD COMPLY, YOU CAN SUBMIT A TOTAL OF 2 IMAGES WHICH CAN BE MADE UP OF EITHER 2 DIGITAL OR 2 PRINTS OR 1 OF EACH.
  • ALL IMAGES INCLUDING PRINTS MUST BE SUBMITTED AT LEAST 3 WEEKS BEFORE THE COMPETITION NIGHT.
  • DIGITAL IMAGE FILES SHOULD BE RESIZED TO BE NO LARGER THAN 1920 PIXEL WIDE BY 1080 PIXEL HIGH, USING JPEG FORMAT AND SRGB COLOUR SPACE.   DETAILS FOR RESIZING CAN BE FOUND HERE
  • EACH DIGITAL IMAGE FILE SHOULD BE RENAMED TO INCLUDE YOUR CHOSEN TITLE FOR THE IMAGE AND YOUR _MEMBERSHIP NUMBER E.G.  MY NEW CAR_ #007.JPG
  • DIGITAL IMAGES TO BE SUBMITTED ON A USB STICK OR SENT VIA E-MAIL TO:- IMAGES@SEDGEMOORCC.CO.UK
  • PRINTS MUST NOT BE LARGER THAN 50CM X 40CM INCLUDING ANY MOUNT.
  • YOUR NAME MUST NOT APPEAR ON THE FRONT OF THE PRINT, THE PRINT MUST BE LABELLED ON THE BACK WITH THE TITLE AND YOUR MEMBERSHIP NUMBER (NOT NAME).
  • ALL PRINTS MUST BE SUBMITTED AT LEAST 3 WEEKS BEFORE THE COMPETITION NIGHT AND SHOULD BE HANDED TO JOHN SAUNDERS (IMAGES SECRETARY), AT A CLUB MEETING.
  • WHEN THE THEME IS ‘NATURAL HISTORY’ OR ‘WILDLIFE’ IMAGES MUST ADHERE TO THE ‘FIAP’ DEFINITION OF NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY (READ THEM HERE)
  • THE IMAGE SECRETARY HAS THE RIGHT TO LIMIT THE TOTAL NUMBER OF ENTRIES DUE TO TIME RESTRICTIONS.

 

SUBMISSION RULES

DIGITAL:

  • DIGITAL IMAGES SHOULD BE HANDED IN AT LEAST 3 WEEKS BEFORE THE COMPETITION NIGHT
  • DIGITAL IMAGES CAN BE HANDED TO THE IMAGE SECRETARY ON A MEMORY STICK
  • MEMORY STICKS SHOULD BE CLEARLY MARKED WITH YOUR NAME AND IMAGES EASY TO FIND
  • DIGITAL IMAGES CAN ALSO BE SUBMITTED BY EMAIL TO  images@sedgemoorcc.co.uk
  • EMAIL ENTRIES SHOULD CLEARLY STATE WHICH EVENT THEY ARE TO BE ENTERED IN

PRINT:

  • PRINTS SHOULD BE HANDED IN AT LEAST 3 WEEKS BEFORE THE COMPETITION NIGHT
  • PRINTS SHOULD BE HANDED IN TO THE IMAGES SECRETARY
  • IMAGES SHOULD BE NO LARGER THAN A3 OR 50cms X 40cms INCLUDING THE MOUNT (IF ANY)
